PENICUIK CRICKET CLUB
Winter preparations are over with the new season opening on Saturday 21st April with a Scottish Cup home game against Watsonians. The next two weeks we play host to Weirs and Dumfries all at Kirkhill.
As the only cricket club in Midlothian we are actively looking for local players who may play in Edinburgh or elsewhere to consider a move nearer to home. A warm welcome is extended to potential players of all levels.
This coming season we will field two Saturday teams and a development team (social) on a Sunday. In addition we have youth teams who compete regularly at U11, U13 and U15 with games midweek and a coaching evening on Fridays during the season, starting at 6 30. Again we are keen to recruit anyone interested in giving cricket a try at any age. Adult training is held on Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6 30pm.
On Easter Sunday we held our annual 10K Charity Run, this year it was in aid of CHAS. 40 runners of various abilities took part with an additional 10 taking part in our alternative walk. £600 was raised and thanks must go to C and FW Services Ltd for their sponsorship and to all the marshals and ladies who provide the post run food and made the day an outstanding success.

PENICUIK ATHELETIC FC
Since our last article, we have played a further three games in the League, on Saturday 31.3.12 at home to Newtongrange Star where we won the local derby 1-0, but on Saturday 7.4.12, despite creating enough chances to win two games, we lost 1-0 away to Armadale Thistle. However we got back on winning ways the following Saturday, defeating Arniston Rangers 2-1 at Penicuik Park keeping our promotion aspirations alive. We now have only three games left, Saturday 21.4.12 at home against Glenrothes and two away games against Broughty Athletic and Broxburn Juniors. With the top five teams in the promotion race separated by only five points, it is quite possible that the final outcome could well be decided on the last game of the season.
