SACRED HEART PRIMARY NURSERY CLASS
We are a small, friendly, non-denominational nursery class offering high-quality pre-school education for children aged 3-5 years. Our class is staffed by a Primary/Nursery Teacher Mrs. Sue Stephen and Child Care Development Workers, Ms. Fiona Dougall and Mrs. Tammy Anderson. There are twenty  morning and twenty afternoon places. To visit our class or to request an application form for a place, please phone 0131-271-4665. Parents/ Carers can add their child’s name to our waiting list from the age of two. Nursery places are offered in the term after a child’s third birthday, depending on availability.

Book your space for FUN! FUN! FUN on Sunday 3rd June, come along and try our new fantastic classes. We will be offering the opportunity to take part in the unique programme of FUN fitness activities for 3 years + up to 102. Cost £3.75 per session. A discount will be given if you book into a weekly class. See below for the activities on offer:

INFLATABLE FITNESS 10.00 – 10.45 am with large bouncy castles, inflatable sports areas, a slide, penalty shoot-out, and bungee run, there are no excuses for not breaking a sweat whilst having lots of FUN.

SCOOTER FITNESS 11.00 – 11.45 am this experience combines friendly competitive games with racing around on scooters. Fantastic for fitness, balance and co-ordination

GLEE CLUB 12.00 – 12.45 pm Singing and dancing is not only great fun but good for the body as well and now it doesn’t just have to be watched on TV!

MICRO FITNESS, MOBILE GYM EXPERIENCE 1.00 – 1.45 pm this unique class allows children and teenagers to discover a wide range of cardio equipment with maximum FUN. Out gym includes treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, air walkers, steppers and much, much more. We will also utilise the Wii technology with the Wii Fit to allow the development of balance and co-ordination. We have a strong emphasis that fitness should be FUN.

PARENT & CHILD SWIMMING OPPORTUNITY –This will is held on Tuesday evenings from 6.00 – 6.45 pm. Classes are paid in advance. Come along and enjoy some fun time with your children. Please contact the Community Education Office for more information. Spaces are limited.

COOKING ON A BUDGET/COOKING FOR ONE – Thursday evenings from 6.30 – 8.30 pm. Due to popular demand basic healthy cooking meals for one i.e. cooking mince portioning into different types of meals. Chile, Spaghetti Bolognaise etc. Learn how to make basic sauces that will help to improve the taste of your dishes for fish, chicken, pasta etc. This class will start on Thursday 17 May until Thursday 21 June. Cost for 6 weeks is £34.50. (Ingredients will be extra) Interested then please give us a call.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES – Our summer Buzz Club programme is now available. If you are interested in any of the activities please give us a call. Breakfast Club, Buzz Club, and Lunch Club Mix and match our activities Buzz Club in the morning and select an activity for the afternoon. Swim School (pre-school plus), Swimming for the terrified ( 9 – 13 years), Cooking, Outdoor Arts and Crafts, Basketball and Swim, Tennis for Beginners, Cricket for Beginners, Flip N FUN, Junior Jog/Fun Athletics, Mini Water Polo, Team Gym, Cheer leading, Rookie lifesaving course, Sensory Fun, Scooter Fitness, Micro Olympics, Survive and Save, Inflatable fitness, All stars Buzz Club, Craft Drama, Table Tennis, Badminton, Golf, Cupcake Madness.

MEN’S SWIMMING – will be starting back up on a Monday evening from 9.00 – 9.45 pm. We would like to restart this session on Monday 23 April if we get sufficient interest. Please give us a call to book your space.

HOLIDAYS ABROAD?
Interested in learning to speak Spanish or Italian for the summer? We have beginner and Intermediate classes operating from May – June. Classes will run from week beginning 7 May for 8 weeks. Cost £46.00. Please give us a call.

SPANISH FOR BEGINNERS – Thursday from 7.00 – 9.00 pm This Spanish class is aimed at people who have little or no previous language skills. You will learn all you need to be able to ask for the basic things on holiday. New members welcome.

ITALIAN FOR BEGINNERS – Going on holiday to Italy this summer? If so then why not come along to learn some basic Italian. This class is held on Monday evenings from 7.00 – 9.00 pm. Come along and fit in with the locals by feeling more at home. First time adults welcome.
ITALIAN INTERMEDIATE LEVEL – Wednesdays from 7.00 – 9.00 pm. Interested in learning how to ask for your food and wine when on holiday, feel comfortable enough to join in a conversation? This class is aimed at those who have previously attended a beginner’s course and those with basic language skills.

YOGA FOR ALL – Looking to get fit and stay fit? This class meets on a Tuesday evenings from 6.30 – 8.00 pm and is suitable FOR ALL LEVELS. This is an ideal class to help improve your flexibility and fitness and has a few spaces available. Work at your own pace, enjoy the challenge. Why not come along and give it a try. BASKETBALL FOR CHILDREN P3 upwards SATURDAY MORNING 10.30 – 11.30 am. Bring a friend, come and join in the fun. Learn new skills, brush up on the old, enjoy playing games and having fun, then this class is for you. New members welcome. Next term starts in June.

BEESLACK FAMILY DISABLED CLUB –This group meets on Sunday afternoons from 12.30 – 4.00 pm. This family oriented club offers a wide range of activities e.g. Computing, Arts & Crafts, Swimming, Woodwork, Music Therapy, Cookery, Pool and Café and much more. BEESLACK CAMERA CLUB –The seasons change and so do the views. Learn to take the picture you always dreamed off. Penicuik Hills covered in snow, the perfect picture post card, a smiling face are just a few of the excellent opportunities on offer to you. Come along with your camera and learn more? Interested in learning more about your camera and how you can get the best out of it? Find out about Photo shop basics, mounting photos, printer skills, competitions, outings and much more. LADIES SWIMMING – SWIM for HEALTH, FITNESS and have lots of FUN – Water based exercise is a great way to keep fit, starting very gently to improve your overall health. It’s ideal for people who do not want high impact style classes. The water supports the body and is great for people with joint problems; backache etc. Take your time; work at your own pace, whether it’s a social evening or fitness based. Ladies Swim only on Monday 7.00 – 8.00 pm; Ladies Swim only or Swim Lessons Wednesday 1.00 – 2.00pm; Swim only Wednesday 8.00 – 9.00 pm; Swim only Friday 8.45 – 9.45 pm. Costs – Swim Lessons £3.95 per week; Swim only £3.20 per week, payable a term in advance.

OVER 55 CLUB’S – A few vacancies exist within our over 55’s clubs. . Why not give us a call? We have four clubs that meet two on Tuesday/Thursday mornings 9.30 – 11.30 am and afternoons 2.00 – 4.00 pm. These groups take part in a wide range of activities e.g. Bowling, Calligraphy, Art group, Card games, Pool, Swimming, Walking, Holiday’s, Craft table and general chit chat. BABY BUBBLES – Sunday morning 10.30 – 12.00 noon. Baby Bubbles will be working in partnership with Beeslack Community High School to provide swimming lessons for babies, toddlers and pre-school children up to the age of 4 years 6 months old. Once the child has reached 4 years 6 months they will have the opportunity to join the Beeslack Dolphins Programme. Qualified Swimming Teachers and Awards Programmes in place. FITNESS SUITE – Looking to keep fit or get fitter? Beeslack have a small Fitness Suite which is open for individual hire or group bookings. All participants must attend a short Induction Programme before use. SCHOOL OPENING TIMES – As a community school our Community Education Programme is on offer throughout the calendar year. Please note we DO NOT close during school holiday periods although opening hours may be altered. We do however close on PUBLIC HOLIDAYS and access may be limited or restricted during exam times. This will however be kept to a minimum. We do close Friday – Monday inclusive during both the Easter and September Weekend. Please note that all classes, groups and lets MUST be clear of the building by 9.55 pm at the very latest.
